Bought as a replacement to the loader that came with a Ruger 9mm semi-auto pistol. It is a new, factory issue loader - the exact same thing that came with the pistol many, many years ago. As for the loader itself - it''s rugged (all metal construction) and helps in loading the bullets into the magazine by taking the strain off your thumb. There may be quicker (more complex) loaders on the market now but this one is simple in design and helps save your thumb from abuse when loading a lot. Some times simple and durable is all you need. I bought the replacement only because I lost the original.
